With heavy hearts and the greatest of sadness, we share the passing of Mr. Michael Nugent, a gentleman, a character, and a man deeply respected within the Irish amateur boxing community. Michael died earlier today, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in the ring and kindness beyond it. His death has brought profound sorrow to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Michael was more than a talented boxer; he was a mentor, a role model, and a cherished member of Rochfortbridge Boxing Club. Many recall the joy of learning from him as young athletes, inspired not only by his skill but by his humility and generosity. He carried himself with dignity, always willing to share his knowledge and encourage others to strive for their best. In the ring, Michael was a formidable competitor, admired for his discipline and determination. Outside of it, he was a man of warmth and character, respected by all who crossed his path. His presence enriched the lives of many, and his passing leaves a void that words cannot fill.

The Irish amateur boxing community mourns alongside his family, offering prayers and heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. His memory will live on in the countless athletes he inspired, the friendships he nurtured, and the values he embodied.

Heartfelt Condolences for Walter Goodwin

Indianapolis, Indiana — November 2025

With heavy hearts and the greatest of sadness, we share the passing of Mr. Walter Goodwin, who died yesterday evening. Walter was the proud owner of Race Car Restorations in Indianapolis, where he worked from the historic George Bignotti/Vel’s Parnelli Jones Racing Team building for more than 32 years. His death marks an enormous loss not only to his family and friends but also to the entire vintage racing community.

Walter was recognized as an early pioneer in the field of vintage Indy car history and restoration. Over the course of his career, he became a respected authority and expert, admired for his meticulous craftsmanship and deep knowledge. His contributions were celebrated at prestigious events including Goodwood, Pebble Beach, and the IMS Museum’s Historic Racing Exhibition. As a member of Vintage Indy™️, Walter completed more than 42 stunning restorations, each a testament to his passion and dedication to preserving racing heritage.

Friends and colleagues remember Walter not only for his professional achievements but for his kindness, humility, and generosity. Many recall his willingness to share his expertise, his laughter during long hours in the workshop, and his unwavering loyalty to those he worked alongside. His knowledge, much of which was never written in books, was invaluable and irreplaceable.

Walter’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy will endure through the cars he restored, the history he preserved, and the countless lives he touched.

With heavy hearts and the greatest of sadness, we share the tragic news of the passing of Mr. Mikey Brown and Ms. Layla Douglas, who both lost their lives in a devastating crash in Glenavy on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Their deaths have left families, friends, and the wider community in profound grief, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of two cherished lives.

Mikey Brown, remembered fondly by many, trained at a local club years ago. Those who knew him describe him as a kind and genuine young man who never failed to stop for a conversation, always asking after the club and showing interest in others. His warmth and friendliness left a lasting impression, and his passing is felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Layla Douglas, alongside Mikey, is mourned with equal sorrow. Her presence brought joy and love to those around her, and her absence leaves a void that words cannot fill. Together, their loss is a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life can be and how important it is to cherish every moment with those we hold dear.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Mikey’s father, his mother, his sisters, and the entire family circle, as well as to Layla’s loved ones. May they find strength in the embrace of their community and solace in the cherished memories of their lives.
