In Loving Memory of  Karl O’Prey

Forever Remembered, Forever Cherished

With heavy hearts, we share the sad news of the death of Mr. Karl O’Prey, whose sudden passing has left his family, friends, and community deeply bereaved. Karl’s life was one of love, dedication, and service, and his memory will remain a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Karl was a devoted husband and father, whose greatest joy was found in his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife Sarah, and his cherished children Eva, Finn, and Cody, who will forever carry his love and wisdom in their hearts. His presence in their lives was a source of strength, laughter, and comfort, and his absence is felt profoundly. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who offered sympathy, kindness, and support during this difficult time. They are deeply thankful to those who attended the Wake and Funeral Mass, and to the many who shared in their sorrow in thoughtful and meaningful ways.

Special appreciation is extended to Monsignor Hugh Connolly for celebrating Karl’s life with comforting words, and to Janice Gribben for the beautiful music that honored his memory during the Mass. The family also acknowledges the 1st Dromore Newry Scout Group, Karl’s colleagues at NIE, and the staff and pupils of Our Lady’s Grammar School and Carrick Primary School for their touching Guard of Honor, a tribute that reflected the respect and admiration Karl inspired. The family is deeply grateful to Cathal and the staff of McAnulty Funeral Directors for their professionalism, guidance, and care throughout this difficult journey. They also extend thanks to all who made donations in lieu of flowers to their chosen charities—Cystic Fibrosis and the 1st Dromore Newry Scout Group—causes that held special meaning for Karl and his family.

Karl’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, at 6:00 p.m. in Mary Queen of Peace Church, Clonallon Road, Warrenpoint, BT34 3RP. Family, friends, and community members are warmly invited to gather in remembrance and prayer.

Rest in peace, Mr. Karl O’Prey. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, and you will remain forever in our hearts. 🕊️❤️
