Heartfelt Condolences for Matthew Jackson
Jacksonville, Florida — November 2025
With heavy hearts and the greatest of sadness, we announce the tragic passing of Mr. Matthew Jackson, an 18-year-old young man whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Matthew was fatally shot during a dispute at a fast food restaurant on Blanding Boulevard near Collins Road in Jacksonville. Despite the immediate response of officers and emergency personnel, Matthew was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim was injured but is expected to recover.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 28-year-old Dawud Burritt was quickly identified and arrested in connection with the shooting. He now faces multiple charges, including murder. While justice will follow its course, the pain of Matthew’s death remains immeasurable for his family, friends, and the community.
Matthew was more than the victim of a tragic crime. He was a hardworking young man, an employee who brought joy to those around him, and a beloved son whose kindness and good soul were cherished by his mother, Natasha, and all who knew him. Natasha expressed her devastation, writing, “I lost my son behind a burger. A damn burger.” Her words reflect the heartbreak of a mother whose bond with her child was filled with love, laughter, and closeness.
The community has come together in grief, flooding social media with condolences and memories of Matthew. He is remembered as someone who carried light into the lives of others, whose presence was uplifting, and whose future held promise. His death is a reminder of the fragility of life and the urgent need to stand against senseless violence.
